1844 2-story wood frame. This building and the reconstructed wood
fence to the east of it figured in Clemens account of Mark Twain's
Adventures. A National Historic Landmark. |

Grant's Drug Store
c. 1839-44 A 2-story wood frame. The building was prefabricated in
Pittsburgh, PA and shipped in sections to Hannibal. It is one of the
best architectural examples in the district, features handsome
window frames and fluted pilasters on paneled bases. It still has
the wooden balcony on the 2nd story. |

Dry Goods Store-1897
This is one of the three
surviving pressed metal fronts in downtown Hannibal it was erected
by John C. Conlon (died 1926).

Coffee Shop
1902-1903
Lucian B.
Andrus, who built this structure, was the partner of Stephen Thorne
in a grocery store across the street. At first occupied by a
dry-good company, the building became the Hannibal Mercantile
Company in 1910. |

Standard Printing Building
A 3 story brick
which has 9 bays facing 3rd Street and 10 bays facing Center
Street. The two over two windows and lavish cornices add to the
rich design. In 1983 the building was taken over by Col. J. T.
Hayward who was head of the Union forces and one of Hannibal's
controversial figures. |

Old Farmers and Merchants Bank Building
1910
The Farmers and
Merchants Bank moved here from 201 North Main. The building is an
outstanding example of the Neo-Classical style. |

Twain Museum
Displays include Norman Rockwell originals.
1870-1875 Col. Alfred W. Lamb (1822-1888), attorney for the Hannibal
and St. Joseph railroad, was responsible for much of the development
of this block with his partner Robert Lakenan |

Downtown Storefront
c. 1830Built
in the 1830's by Joseph J. Clark and sold in 1847 to Samuel Arthur.
It is one of the last remaining examples of the 3 story gabled
warehouses that once lined downtown Hannibal.

with cast iron 1st story. In 1845 This Building housed William P.
Owsley's Mercantile Business. Owsley shot Sam Smarr, an incident
that became the account of Colonel Sherborn's killing of Boggs in
Huckleberry Finn |

Lighthouse
Built in memory
of Mark Twain. It is the farthest inland lighthouse in the world and
was restored in 1993. |
